I love tomatillos. If you want authentic salsa it's the plant to grow. I'm growing the green variety this year, but prefer the one with purple fruit - alas I couldn't lay my hands on any seeds this year.
You make a salsa with a big handful of chopped fresh coriander, garlic (chopped and raw) and lots of tomatilloes. Delicious with very nearly anything. And they look dead pretty in the greenhouse too :D

We grew lots on the lottie a couple of years ago. They looked very pretty but then I didn't really know what to do with them!
The Bedsock thinks he is going to cook with them describing them as like a 'fruity' green tomato! We shall see.
I really wish I hadn't got 'Show me the way to tomatillo' stuck in my head.
Ha ha! The Bedsock just read your comment and is grumbling "she should have sent them to me" "green salsa" blah blah
Fried green tomatoes! Yummy. I plant them at the back of my greenhouse and let them rampage towards the front along the roof.
Now I shall be singing that awful song every time I go to inspect them...
